When a woman hits the wrong side of 40 she may feel lost and forgotten, in a kind of fashion limbo, finding it difficult to find something suitable to wear. It seems that the majority of fashion trends are geared towards those the right side of thirty and consequently, it is easy for her to lose her former style confidence. Shopping for clothes becomes daunting.

However, with maturity can come a new-found sense of chicness. This means experiementing with new looks, relying on classic trends, and wearing outfits that bring back self-esteem.

Seek Inspiration from Others

Seek inspiration from a fellow 40, 50 or 60-something. This could be a celebrity or a friend. Use women’s magazines to provide motivation. Find stylish ladies (with similar body shapes) to admire and make a note of what they are wearing. Sixty-something Helen Mirren has earned a reputation for being a poster girl for grown ups and has inspired many mature women with her new-found signature style.

Enlist the help of a friend or a style advisor (personal shopper) or buy a style guide which is especially geared towards older women to give an insight on dressing for a particular age and body shape.

Find a Fashion Personality

Every woman is different. Take into account the fashion personality that is to be reflected. Is the goal to look smarter, more stylish, more colorful or more feminine? This will be determined by a woman’s lifestyle and will lead in the direction of the genre of pieces, i.e. chic, smart, casual or sporty.

It’s enough to make you see red. Over half of British males say red is their least favourite colour for underwear and they actually prefer to see their bedmate in dark, mysterious vampiric black. Yet almost two-thirds of women think their men prefer to see them in a red bra and knickers.

A new study made by laundrycare expert, Dr Beckmann, has overturned some of the most deeply entrenched myths about men, women - and underwear.

Red has often been held to be the sexiest lingerie colour - the one women wear when they are feeling “flirty”, despite the fact it barely flatters the typical ‘pale English rose’ complexion. But this is no longer true, according to the average British male.

Once believed to be a favourite for Valentine’s Day boudoir gifts, racy, red lingerie, is now considered the biggest bedroom turn-off by British chaps, according to Dr Beckmann’s study.

More than 50% of the men questioned put red at the top of their least favourite list, with a further 18% giving the thumbs-down to pink, and 11% saying ‘No’ to flesh-tones.

The routing of red is a blow for many women, more than 60% of whom confessed to buying red when they wanted to impress their man.

Men however, do have a secret fashionista streak - because they actually prefer black, closely followed by white, which is good news for Dr Beckmann, since they are the makers of the laundry product, Glowhite.

That was all about Matrix vibe. It was actually inspired by the new film Tron Legacy and Donatella Versace told the International Herald Tribune it was about “Going back to Versace values”. She might have decided to look back to the chicky elegance of the classic some-time ago trends. That could be a good idea, I think. People might be tired of that modern exploading urbanization. What if they try to get emerged into a rythm of classic rules and simple, but elengant lines?

Leather jackets contoured the body in graphic panel details, studs edging up to the shoulder, with electric blue chainmail vests worn beneath. That’s feeling strong and bold. That’s express rough style and fatal chic.

Blue – in shades from plum purple to navy and steel – joined silver, grey and black in terms of the colour palette. Classic colours, classic fashion view, classic rules. It goes along with an idea of an inmortal little black dress. It will be always popular and stylish, wanted and worn.

She grew up in a poor district of the city where she helped her mother to sell fruit on streets. It was at this street market that Vodianova was discovered, aged 16, and consequently went on to learn English in order to conquer the European fashion scene.

After moving to Paris at 17 years old, Vodianova signed with Viva Models, and since has completed advertising campaigns for Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, L’Oréal, Marc Jacobs, Pepe Jeans, Diane von Furstenberg and Chanel as well as appearing on the catwalks of Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Chloe, Marc Jacobs and many others.

In 2001, Vodianova married The Honourable Justin Trevor Berkeley Portman, heir to a family that owns large parts of central London, and half-brother of the 10th Viscount Portman. The couple now have three children: Lucas Alexander, born in 2001, Neva, born in 2006, and Viktor, born in 2007.

In 2005 Vodianova founded the Naked Heart Foundation, an organization that aims to provide play facilities for children in urban Russia. The organisation has built nearly thirty play parks, its first in Vodianova’s hometown of Nizhny Novgorod.

In 2009 - at the age of 27 - she made a return to the catwalk in a surprise appearance on Stella McCartney’s spring/summer 2010 show.

Natalia Vodianova lives with her family in West Sussex now. She is one of the brightest examples showing that fashion models are not just dolls to wear fancy clothing during the catwalks, but intellegnt and generous women. For those little ladies who dreams of becoming a rich beautiful models like Natalia Vodyanova: she is a happy exemption. She is lucky. Even if you are smart and model-like looking, there is no guarantee that you will repeat her success life!

It is widely known that tThe Haute Couture industry officially became so in the 21st century. But we know it is never very far from its roots.

do you know who was one of the pioners of this fancy industry? The spirit of Charles Frederick Worth, the Englishman from Bourne, Lincolnshire, is considered the ‘father of Haute Couture’, who established his maison in Paris in 1858 and dressed the Empress Eugenie, was recalled in a miniature “Worth” couture collection, designed by the Italian Giovanni Bedin.

Just eight pieces, each reflecting the Worth DNA – corseted bodices, tiny waists, large sleeves, antique lace and delicate embroideries - were on show in a grande maison dating, appropriately, from the era of Napoleon III. There was one striking difference, however: The voluminous, multi-layered skirts of Worth’s era had been reduced from floor-sweeping crinolines to mini “tutus” measuring a mere 37cms. Just look at the picture above to imagine that “worth” style of that time. It is not bulky but chicky and elegant at the same very time. It is smooth and fine, soft and brutal.

Do you know who is a Sneakerhead?
A sneakerhead is anybody who enjoys collecting sneakers. Sneakerheads have been around for decades, but there have been changes in the behaviors of sneaker geeks of the late 80s and 90s, to those that have sprouted in just the past 3 years. Here’s just a few observations from the bench:

1. Value

Yesterday’s sneakerhead shopped around for deadstock and exclusive finds that were a steal, while today’s sneakerhead will deal or steal any which way they can to drop $500 on a pair of kicks.

2. Cool

Yesterday’s sneakerhead bought sneakers because the colors were cool, the style was cool, and they fit cool. Today, the driving force behind the sneaker craze is HYPE, not true coolness.

3. Love

Today’s sneakerhead buys primarily Nike, while yesterday’s sneakerhead bought hip-hop and skate classics like Puma, Vans, and Adidas. Many of modern sneakerheads look at their sneaker collections as investments, while yesterday’s collector bought them to be worn.

4. Purpose

Yesterday’s sneakerhead stored their collections under their beds or closets. Today’s sneakerhead stores their kicks in cases and personalized shelves.

5. Location

Today’s sneakerhead has access to upscale sneaker boutiques with fine wood, glass and metal motifs. Yesterday’s sneakerhead had the local shop that used to be a Chinese takeout or the athletic store in the mall. The modern sneakerheads can also buy their favourite shoes online. So, one of the most popular online fashion stores LoveAndChic.com offers a large variety of fashion sneakers from the latest fashion collections worldwide.

Stop and think whether you have ever thought of altering pants to fit that very way you want? Sometimes, it makes more sense just to go to the shop or brows the online inventory to find what you need. But what if you have a pair of suitable pants, you don’t really like the way they fit you, but, unfortunately, they are of great quality fabric or fancy colour? The best answer is to spend 30 minutes and enjoy a kind of new pair of stylish cigarette pants, for example. Don’t be afraid. Its easier than you think. If you have basic knowledge of how to use a sewing machine, try this quick alteration to turn regular pants into cigarette pants.

1. Turn the pants inside out and put them on. As you flatten each seam as much as possible, place pins in a straight line on each side of your leg where you’d like them to fit.

2. Carefully remove the pants to avoid pricking yourself. It helps if the pants have some stretch in this case.

3. Starting at a careful angle in line with the seam, sew a straight line along where you placed the pins, removing each one as you approach it.

4. Turn right side out and try on again.

5. If pleased with result, remove extra fabric with a pair of fabric scissors and flatten the inside seams with a hot iron.

6. Put pants on again right side out. Fold hems under to ankle length. Pin. Pass through machine again, about a half inch above the hem. Remove extra fabric, if necessary.

The January Paris shows started with Louis Vuitton, with a Vienna-inspired parade of somber coats and jackets, convertible boots with zippers and beautiful bags with abstract hand-painting by the artist Christian Schoeller. Helbers, the men’s studio directo,r said that he had looked at artists like Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt for inspiration; he also commissioned a soundtrack featuring a Kafka reading, and even changed the show-space configuration: instead of a normal runway, models walked in a mazelike setup. It was a smart move.

Wow, I feel like blood sounds and smell are a trend this season. After Dsquared’s lip-busting hockey rumpus in Milan, Jean Paul Gaultier brought a boxing ring to his runway!. Two female boxers in fetishy corsets and bras kick-boxed as smashed-up guys decked in long leather shorts, sweat pants tucked into boxing boots, hooded sweaters and boxing robes strutted around them.

If you a person who prefer a more, let me say, regular approach to fashion, Dries Van Noten came to the rescue: he borrowed seven “cliché prints” from a defunct English tie producer as the leitmotif for his collection, incorporating them into collegiate jackets, cuffed khakis and colorful shirts. The recurring stripes appeared as full prints on trousers and blazers, sleeves on checkered shirts and barely noticeable details on waistbands. What was surprising is how elegant and effortless these unorthodox combinations appeared.

This season promises to be very elegant and eye-catching. If you feel like not completely prepared, we highly recommend you to visit our online fashion store LoveAndChic.com to get fashion designer clothing from the latest fashion collections for the best prices you will never find anywere!
