Christopher Bailey, the chief creative officer of Burberry fashion house, and one of the most popular and best-known designers, has recently collected his MBE from Buckingham Palace.

Bailey, 38 years old, was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire, in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, 2009, in June 2009, for his work to the UK fashion industry.

“This award also recognises the incredible team that I work with and it is a privilege to be a part of Burberry, a great British brand” Bailey said.

Lately, Bailey also became an Honorary Patron of Dublin’sTrinity College’s Philosophical Society, a forum established for the discussion of artistic and aesthetic ideas for over three centuries.

This recognition is not the first award for the talented Yorkshireman. There is a long list of them. So, in 2004, Bailey received an honorary fellowship from the Royal College of Art. By the way, this is from where he graduated with an MA in 1994. He also holds honorary doctorates from the University of Westminster and the University of Huddersfield.

If you don’t know, the role of Bailey as chief creative officer of Burberry, is held responsibility for the design of all Burberry fashion collections, as well as all advertising, corporate art direction, architectural design, multimedia content and overall brand image. That’s a lot, do you agree?

He was also responsible for  the design and development of the new Burberry Global Headquarters at Horseferry House, in London, and the newly-opened, Burberry Americas Headquarters, at 444 Madison in New York and the new Burberry Headquarters in Ginza, Tokyo.

The presentation of Bailey’s spring/summer 2010 Burberry Prorsum collection, was one of the highlights of London fashion week in September, 2009.
